PokePark Kanto: Explore the “Real” World of Pokémon in 2026

Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of Pokémon! PokePark Kanto, the first permanent outdoor Pokémon theme park, is scheduled to open its doors in early 2026 in Tokyo. Fans eager to visit can look forward to advance ticket sales starting later this year for this attraction, which promises to bring Sedge Town and the serene Pokémon Forest to life.

Details about PokePark Kanto were unveiled during a recent Pokémon Presents livestream. The Pokémon Company confirmed it will be their inaugural permanent outdoor Pokémon attraction. Spanning 26,000 square meters within Yomiuriland, the park is divided into two primary zones: Pokémon Forest, designed to showcase Pokémon in their natural habitats, and Sedge Town, where trainers and Pokémon are depicted sharing space.

An interesting aspect of PokePark Kanto is its independence from Universal theme parks, distinguishing it from attractions like Super Nintendo World, which has opened at Universal locations globally.

Initially announced in December 2023, PokePark Kanto is inspired by the legendary Kanto region, famously featured in the very first Pokémon games, Red and Blue. The park`s opening in 2026 will coincide with the 30th anniversary of these groundbreaking Game Boy titles, originally launched in Japan in 1996.

During the same presentation, The Pokémon Company also revealed `Pokémon Friends` for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, along with a new trailer for `Pokémon Legends Z-A` that offered a glimpse into Lumiose City.
