Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Shiny Legendary Treasures of Ruin Guide

Pokemon trainers playing Scarlet and Violet will soon have a unique opportunity to obtain shiny versions of the four legendary Treasures of Ruin: Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu. These highly sought-after Pokemon are set to appear in five-star Tera Raids over the next few weeks, though acquiring them will require a collaborative community effort.

Unlike previous raid events, these special encounters do not allow direct capture of the shiny legendary Pokemon after defeating them; they will simply flee. Instead, if players worldwide collectively defeat each specific Pokemon one million times before its event concludes, the shiny legendaries will be distributed to participants as Mystery Gifts.

The event series is scheduled to commence on July 22 with shiny Wo-Chien, with the remaining Treasures of Ruin following suit throughout August and September. Below, you will find the complete event schedule and detailed instructions on how to participate and claim your rewards.

How To Join Tera Raids

To participate in these exclusive event raids, you must first ensure your game is fully updated. Launch your copy of either Scarlet or Violet, then press the X button to open the menu. Navigate to “Poke Portal,” and select “Check Poke Portal News.” This action will download the latest event data, allowing the special Pokemon to appear in your game.

Once updated, you can locate these event raid dens across the Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy regions. The shiny Treasures of Ruin will appear as five-star raid bosses, which are generally less challenging than some of the more formidable special raids. However, teaming up with other players online is still highly recommended to maximize your chances of success and contribute effectively to the collective goal.

How To Claim Mystery Gifts

After the community successfully meets the collective defeat goal for a specific Pokemon, and the Mystery Gift distributions begin, follow these steps in your Scarlet or Violet game to claim your shiny legendary Pokemon:

  1. Press X to open the main menu.
  2. Select Poke Portal.
  3. Choose Mystery Gift, then select Get via Internet.
  4. Select the specific gift you wish to claim (the shiny legendary Pokemon).
  5. Remember to save your game immediately after receiving your gift.

Beyond the initial one million victory target, The Pokemon Company may also award additional bonuses based on continued player success. For every extra 100,000 victories achieved, a Tera Shard Set containing 40 Tera Shards will be distributed.

Even if you miss the chance to participate in these particular raid events, there may still be future opportunities to acquire the shiny Treasures of Ruin. The Pokemon Company has indicated that these legendary Pokemon “may be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods.”

These shiny Treasures of Ruin events serve as an exciting prelude to the upcoming installment in the series, Pokemon Legends: Z-A. This new title is slated for release on October 16 for both the original Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be set entirely within Lumiose City, which is undergoing a major redevelopment initiative to create a more harmonious environment for both humans and Pokemon.
