Nintendo has officially announced exciting paid downloadable content (DLC) for the eagerly anticipated game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This revelation came during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct broadcast, well in advance of the game`s scheduled release on October 16.
The new DLC, aptly titled “Mega Dimension,” promises to expand the game`s narrative with additional story content. A highlight of this expansion is the introduction of two brand-new Mega Evolutions for Raichu: Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y. Fans can pre-order the “Mega Dimension” DLC starting today.
While the brief teaser for “Mega Dimension” refrained from revealing specific plot points, it strongly suggested a significant role for the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa, famed for its ability to teleport using its golden rings. A press release further elaborated on the DLC`s premise, mentioning the appearance of “mysterious distortions” within Lumiose City that lead to a realm called “Hyperspace Lumiose.” The teaser also provided a clear look at the distinct designs of the new Mega Raichu forms: Mega Raichu X is depicted with two tails, while Mega Raichu Y sports noticeably longer, more pointed ears.
As an added incentive, pre-orders for the DLC will include exclusive “Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel items.” These in-game cosmetic items will be available for use when Pokémon Legends: Z-A launches, compatible with both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.
Prior to the DLC announcement, a fresh trailer for the main Pokémon Legends: Z-A game premiered. This gameplay footage showcased several previously revealed Mega Evolutions in action, specifically Mega Malamar, Mega Hawlucha, and Mega Victreebel. Even more noteworthy was the confirmation within the trailer of Mega Evolutions for the beloved starter Pokémon from Pokémon X and Y: Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja.
The September Nintendo Direct concluded with another reveal: Pokémon Pokopia. This new title features Ditto as its star and appears to be an intriguing fusion of elements from Pokémon, Minecraft, and Animal Crossing.
