Path of Exile 2`s substantial “The Third Edict” update is set to receive further enhancements with a patch arriving later this week. This update will boost the game`s initial seasonal league and refine new mechanics such as the sprint function.
“The Third Edict” was introduced on August 29, expanding Path of Exile 2 with Act IV of its campaign, two interim `interlude` acts designed to aid players in reaching the endgame, and the ARPG`s debut seasonal league, “Rise of the Abyssal.” Grinding Gear Games, the developer, has been meticulously tracking player feedback since the update`s release and is now poised to launch patch 0.3.0b to resolve a range of reported concerns.
A significant portion of the forthcoming modifications target the “Rise of the Abyssal” league, aiming to make specific enemy abilities more manageable. This includes the Vessel of Kulemak boss, whose arena-spanning cleave attack will feature clearer telegraphing, simplifying evasion. While its Teleport Slam ability will become unavoidable, its damage output will be lessened. Additionally, the damage inflicted by certain skills from other adversaries, such as Abyssal Stranglers and the Shepherd of the Pit, has been decreased.
Across the broader game, numerous minor enhancements are being implemented, affecting various areas and enemies within Act IV. Some bosses, including The Scourge of the Skies, Kurtog, and the Great White One, will now possess more unblockable abilities. Conversely, others will become slightly easier to handle due to clearer visual cues for Yama the White`s Future Sight skill and extended cooldowns between skills used by Torvian, Hand of the Saviour. Torvian`s bouncing axe projectiles will also travel slower and inflict less freeze accumulation. Furthermore, Quill Crabs will now deal reduced damage.
The game`s recently introduced sprint mechanic, which enables players to transition from a roll into a run for faster map traversal or enemy evasion, is receiving a slight adjustment. Players previously noted that sprinting still maintained enemy lock-on, leading to unintended character turns when attempting to cast abilities. Patch 0.3.0b will address this by ensuring players are no longer locked onto enemies while sprinting.
This update will also rectify a multitude of bugs, notably one preventing the Warbringer`s Answered Call Notable Passive from correctly summoning Ancestral Spirit minions. Additionally, several client-crashing issues will be resolved.
The complete Path of Exile 2 patch 0.3.0b notes are provided below, with the update anticipated to deploy by week`s end. In a recent discussion, Path of Exile 2 director Jonathan Rogers affirmed that the ARPG will not exit early access in 2025. He acknowledged that “things have taken a bit longer than we`d hoped” but expressed confidence that Grinding Gear Games would complete the game`s final two story acts “not too much longer” thereafter. Rogers characterized “The Third Edict” update as the developer`s effort to “address every issue people are currently discontented with.”
