The highly anticipated “The Third Edict” update for Path of Exile 2 is poised to transform the game with the addition of an entirely new act, an expansive region, and a wealth of fresh content. However, it is the groundbreaking asynchronous trading system that has generated the most fervent excitement among players. Grinding Gear Games recently unveiled a preview of the system`s new in-game market browser, just days before the update`s official launch.
Grinding Gear Games (GGG) clarified that while the in-game trade browser was not fully prepared for its initial showcase during “The Third Edict” content reveal, it is now ready for deployment. This in-game market interface functions much like Path of Exile 2`s existing official trade website, enabling players to efficiently search for desired items within the player-driven economy. A pivotal innovation of the new asynchronous trade system is that sellers are no longer required to be online for a transaction to occur; buyers can now complete purchases directly from a seller`s Hideout, significantly streamlining and simplifying the trading process.
This seemingly straightforward addition represents a substantial quality-of-life improvement for Path of Exile 2 players, transforming what was previously a fairly involved, multi-step trading experience into a much more accessible and efficient task. Furthermore, there are plans to implement this asynchronous trade system into the original Path of Exile in the future, provided its integration within PoE 2 proves successful and smooth.
Overall, “The Third Edict” update is packed with a multitude of quality-of-life enhancements. Game director Johnathan Rogers noted in a recent Q&A that the development team aimed to “take a good crack at solving every problem people are currently unhappy about.” Beyond the trading overhaul, the update introduces Act IV, fresh endgame challenges, a new sprint ability, Path of Exile 2`s inaugural league, and a wealth of other exciting features designed to enrich the gameplay experience.
Despite the comprehensive nature of this update, Path of Exile 2 is not expected to exit early access or transition to a free-to-play model in the immediate future. Developers have indicated that a full release in 2025 appears unlikely, and its continued duration in early access will ultimately be determined by the game`s ongoing progress and overall development status.
“The Third Edict” is officially scheduled for release on August 29th. Coinciding with the update`s launch, Path of Exile 2 will offer players a special free access weekend from August 29th to September 1st, providing an excellent opportunity to dive in and experience all the new content.
