Forever Entertainment, the publisher behind the 2020 remake of Sega`s original Panzer Dragoon for modern consoles, is now preparing for the launch of the Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei remake. Collaborating with developers MegaPixel Studio and Storm Trident, this highly anticipated title might arrive sooner than anticipated.
According to an announcement from Gematsu, the Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei: Remake is set to make its public debut at the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, specifically from September 25-28, at the Rainy Frog booth. While a firm release date was not disclosed, it has been confirmed that the game will be accessible on a wide range of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Originally released in 1996 for the Sega Saturn, Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei served as a prequel to its predecessor. The game`s narrative follows Jaen Jaque Lundi, a young man who challenges societal norms by forging a unique bond with and training a dragon named Lagi. This dragon acts as the player`s primary mode of transportation and crucial weapon, as Jaen and Lagi navigate through relentless enemy assaults and delve into the mysteries of forgotten civilizations.
Consistent with the original, the Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei: Remake will retain its core identity as a rail shooter. However, it will also incorporate contemporary features, such as dynamic branching pathways and an evolution system for Lagi`s abilities that adapts based on the player`s performance and combat style. Additionally, players will have the option to unleash a powerful berserk attack and re-engage with various mission variants after the main campaign concludes.
Players who acquire the Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei: Remake will be presented with a choice between classic and modernized control schemes. The remake will also showcase significantly upgraded graphics, alongside a remastered version of the soundtrack, provided as an alternative to the timeless original score.
