Developer Team Ninja has officially revealed the launch date for its highly anticipated souls-like action-RPG, Nioh 3, confirming it will arrive on February 6, 2026. This announcement took place during PlayStation`s September State of Play event, where several other upcoming titles, including Saros and Battlefield 6, were also showcased.
The official release date for Nioh 3 was somewhat anticipated, following a prior leak from an online retailer in Japan. Reports indicated that the retailer had prematurely listed both a standard and a `Treasure Box` collector`s edition of the game, which was said to include exclusive items such as an art book, mousepad, CD soundtrack, and a furry keychain. Although these product pages were quickly taken down, they offered a glimpse of the game`s cover and collector`s bundle contents.
In Nioh 3, players will assume the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, a fictionalized portrayal of Japan`s inaugural shogun. Faced with an increase in supernatural dangers, Tokugawa must confront these sinister entities by mastering both samurai and ninja combat techniques. Team Ninja has stated that their prior work on the Ninja Gaiden series influenced the game`s dynamic combat, allowing players to seamlessly transition between different fighting styles.
The samurai style offers a distinct Ki Pulse ability, enabling stamina recovery immediately after offensive maneuvers. Conversely, the ninja style features a mist ability, allowing Tokugawa to conjure a temporary doppelganger that diverts enemy focus.
Separately, Team Ninja is also preparing for the October 21 launch of Ninja Gaiden 4. This latest entry in the acclaimed Ninja Gaiden franchise, co-developed with Platinum Games, will introduce two main characters: the returning icon Ryu Hayabusa and a new character named Yakumo. Early impressions suggest that Ninja Gaiden 4 will appeal to long-time fans while also being accessible to new players.
