Nintendo Unveils Talking Flower from Super Mario Bros. Wonder

During the recent September Nintendo Direct event, while much of the focus was on upcoming titles for the Switch 2, Nintendo revealed a rather surprising and unique product: a physical talking flower. This unexpected announcement occurred during the segment dedicated to Super Mario Bros. Wonder, where a Switch 2 edition of the game was also confirmed.

Inspired by the chatty flora featured in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, this new tangible collectible can utter various phrases autonomously, such as “We kinda look alike, huh?” Nintendo`s Yoshiaki Koizumi demonstrated the product during the Direct presentation. It`s important to note that this flower is designed for one-way communication; unlike interactive smart devices such as Amazon Alexa, it solely speaks and does not respond to user input. Koizumi suggested that “These talking flowers can make everyday life a little more fun.”

The talking flowers are slated for release in Spring 2026, although their exact pricing has not yet been disclosed. This launch window coincides with the arrival of Super Mario Bros. Wonder and its `Meetup in Bellabel Park` DLC, both planned for the Switch 2 in Spring 2026.

While the talking flower is not yet available for purchase, Nintendo enthusiasts can already acquire another plant-themed accessory: the Piranha Plant camera, specifically designed for the Switch 2.

The September Nintendo Direct also brought forth several other significant announcements. These included the official release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, news of Resident Evil ports, and the unexpected return of the Virtual Boy, complete with a $100 physical collectible. Furthermore, a new wave of Amiibo figures is on the horizon. These announcements collectively underscore Nintendo`s ongoing strategy of expanding its brand beyond video games into a diverse range of physical merchandise and collectibles.
