Nintendo Discontinues Switch Game Voucher Program

Nintendo has announced the upcoming discontinuation of its Nintendo Switch Game Voucher program. The service, which allowed users to purchase two digital game vouchers at a discounted price, will be permanently retired on January 30, 2026.

The Game Voucher program was a popular initiative for Switch owners, offering a way to save money on purchasing two select digital first-party Nintendo titles. Typically costing $100 for a pair of vouchers, this provided a $20 saving compared to buying two full-priced $60 games separately. Many major Nintendo releases, including titles like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, were eligible for purchase using these vouchers.

The official confirmation comes from Nintendo`s support website, stating that “as of 11:59 PM Pacific Time January 30, 2026, it will no longer be possible to purchase Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers.” However, the company clarified that any vouchers bought before this deadline will remain usable.

Vouchers purchased will retain their validity for 12 months from the original purchase date. For example, if a set of vouchers is bought on the final day, January 30, 2026, each voucher will be redeemable until January 30, 2027.

Nintendo had previously indicated that vouchers from the current program would not be compatible with games released for the rumored upcoming console, often referred to as the Nintendo Switch 2. As of now, Nintendo has not announced any equivalent game voucher or discount program for the new console.
