Nintendo Direct: Upcoming Switch 2 Games and Amiibo Preorders

The latest hour-long Nintendo Direct presentation delivered a flurry of exciting news, unveiling both entirely new titles and confirming release dates for highly anticipated games. Key announcements included the reveal of the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 collection and the long-awaited launch confirmation for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Nintendo has outlined plans for six major game releases within a two-month timeframe, commencing with the Mario Galaxy collection on October 2nd and culminating with Metroid Prime 4 on December 4th. This busy period will also see the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and Kirby Air Riders, alongside several third-party offerings, notably the Nintendo-published timed-exclusive Hades II.

In addition to software, Nintendo showcased seven new Amiibo figures: three dedicated to Metroid Prime 4, two for Kirby Air Riders, and two inspired by Super Mario Galaxy. Fans of Metroid and Mario can also anticipate new literary releases this autumn: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective and Rosalina’s Storybook.

This comprehensive overview details all the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 (and original Switch) games and accessories featured in the recent Nintendo Direct that are currently available for preorder. The list also includes Nintendo-published titles and official first-party accessories for Switch 2 already on the market. For consumers seeking to acquire Nintendo`s new console, Amazon began preorders for the Switch 2 Pokemon Legends: Z-A Bundle on September 12th, offering a direct purchase route. However, securing the Mario Kart World Bundle or a standalone console from Amazon still requires an invitation.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch exclusives

Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch exclusives revealed at Nintendo Direct.

Despite the $80 price tag of Mario Kart World suggesting a potential new standard for Switch 2 exclusives, it appears this pricing isn`t universal. Many upcoming titles within Nintendo`s popular franchises for Switch 2, such as Metroid Prime 4, Hyrule Warriors, and Kirby Air Riders, are priced at $70. Older Switch editions of Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are set at $60. The Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 physical edition stands out, priced at $70 for the original Switch, but includes a free upgrade pack for the Switch 2.

Note: Certain games listed, including Dragon Quest VII Reimagined and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, are not exclusive to Switch but were highlighted during the September Nintendo Direct. Hades II, published by Nintendo, is a timed console exclusive also launching on PC.

New Nintendo Switch 2 Amiibo on Amazon

Nintendo Switch 2 Amiibo preorders

Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Amiibo figures now available for preorder.

The trio of Metroid Prime 4 Amiibo figures will be released across different dates and price points. The sizable Samus & Vi-O-La motorcycle figure is priced at $40, launching alongside the new $30 Samus Aran Amiibo on November 6th. An Amiibo featuring Sylux is slated for release on December 4th, coinciding with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, also at $30.

The two Kirby Air Riders Amiibo are priced at $50 each, making them the most expensive Amiibo figures to date. This elevated cost is understandable, given that the Warp Star and Winged Star Machines depicted are separate figures, effectively acting as double packs. Fans of Super Mario Galaxy will have to await April 2026 to add the new Mario and Rosalina Amiibo figures to their collections. Each of these figures is priced at $40 and features more intricate character stands than typically seen in the Amiibo line.
