Nintendo Direct: September Broadcast Rumored for Switch 2 Reveals

Nintendo`s next significant presentation, known as a “Nintendo Direct,” is reportedly just around the corner, with multiple sources pointing to a mid-September event. This timing would align perfectly with Nintendo`s established tradition of hosting such broadcasts in September.

Reports include a cryptic message from Switch Force referencing `912` and `missing games,` hinting at a potential September 12th date for a Direct that could feature new games for the Switch 2. Independently, sources at VGC have also indicated plans for a Nintendo Direct in mid-September.

The speculated September 12th date is particularly intriguing as it falls just one day before the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros., released in 1985. This historical proximity could make for a memorable announcement.

Gaming enthusiasts are eagerly speculating that this upcoming Direct might finally unveil the highly anticipated release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. While the game is confirmed for a 2025 launch, a specific calendar date has yet to be announced.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is one of several major titles expected for the Switch 2 in 2025, alongside Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which is already slated for October 15th. Many are also hoping for more details on the next 3D Mario game, though there are no current indications of such an announcement coming this September.

A September Nintendo Direct could serve as a crucial platform for Nintendo to lay the groundwork for the vital holiday shopping season. It would provide consumers with compelling new reasons to consider purchasing a Switch 2. Despite a robust initial launch in June, driven by pent-up demand and early adopters, analysts suggest the console`s true test will be its performance among the broader mass market during the upcoming holidays.

The most recent Nintendo Direct, which aired on August 19th, was a substantial broadcast that focused exclusively on Kirby: Air Riders.

While industry rivals like Microsoft and Sony have increased their console prices this year, Nintendo has maintained the Switch 2`s price point at $450, or $500 for the Mario Kart World bundle. However, one industry expert has suggested that Nintendo might consider raising the price of the Switch 2 in 2026, a possibility that Nintendo itself has not officially ruled out.

It is worth noting that Nintendo has previously adjusted prices for the original Switch console and certain Switch 2 accessories due to various market factors.
