Nightdive Studios has officially re-announced SiN: Reloaded, a highly anticipated remaster of the classic “boomer shooter” first revealed in 2020. Development of the game was temporarily paused while the studio dedicated its efforts to other projects, notably System Shock.
Though its release once seemed uncertain, SiN: Reloaded is now slated for a broad launch in 2026. The remaster will be available across a wide range of platforms, including all current-generation consoles, PC, and even the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
True to Nightdive’s renowned remastering expertise, SiN: Reloaded will feature significantly enhanced visuals and performance, coupled with a modern control scheme tailored for contemporary gaming. Beyond these core improvements, the package includes the original SiN game, the SiN: Wages of SiN mission pack, and an exclusive “vault” feature.
Key enhancements and features of SiN: Reloaded include:
- The full original SiN game and the SiN: Wages of Sin mission pack, meticulously optimized using the KEX Engine.
- Stunningly remastered graphics, boasting HD textures and models, support for up to 4K resolution at 144 FPS, anti-aliasing, and refreshed 2D screens and menu artwork.
- Completely overhauled control schemes and a modernized user interface, optimized for both gamepads and mouse & keyboard.
- Improvements to level designs and maps throughout the game.
- The ability to seamlessly switch between the new remastered visuals and the classic SiN Gold version.
- A brand-new set of achievements to unlock.
- Higher resolution audio tracks by Zak Belika, expertly mixed and engineered by Chris Mock.
- A special vault containing exclusive, behind-the-scenes development material.
Originally launched on PC in 1998, SiN was developed by Ritual Entertainment and Hyperion Entertainment, and published by Activision. It utilized a modified version of the iconic Quake II engine. The game immerses players in a near-future dystopian world where they embody Colonel John R. Blade, a security consultant. Blade must confront the nefarious CEO Doctor Elexis Sinclare, who is disseminating a DNA-altering drug throughout the city. While SiN initially received respectable reviews, it has since cultivated a dedicated cult following over the years.
SiN: Reloaded is scheduled for release in 2026, targeting platforms such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and both Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.
