The highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular game Elden Ring is actively in production, and it has been revealed that Nick Offerman, known for his role in “The Last of Us” series, has joined the cast.
Earlier this week, leaked footage from the set circulated online, generating positive reactions from fans. The images suggest that the filmmakers are faithfully honoring the source material, recreating recognizable elements such as the Church of Marika, which appears to be lifted directly from the 2022 game. This promises an immersive experience of the Lands Between, brought to life.
The A24 production has brought veteran actors to the project. In addition to Nick Offerman, who will contribute his seasoned presence, the film will feature Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, and Cailee Spaeny. Further casting announcements are expected.
Nick Offerman has established himself as a frequent participant in video game and comic book adaptations, with roles in “Sonic the Hedgehog 4,” “The Last of Us,” and “The Umbrella Academy.” He earned an Emmy Award for his portrayal of the survivor Bill in “The Last of Us,” and his talent will now be brought to the fantastical world of the Lands Between.
The leaked set footage suggests the film will explore the Lands Between in the period following The Shattering – the pivotal event that initiates the video game. It will serve neither as a prequel nor a sequel. Director Alex Garland, deeply committed to the project, stated that he spent 4,000 hours playing Elden Ring in preparation and submitted a 160-page script draft.
Filming for Elden Ring is ongoing, and more casting details are expected to be unveiled in the near future.
