New Street Fighter Film Unveils Full Cast and Story Details

The legendary Street Fighter franchise is gearing up for a cinematic comeback with an exciting new reboot that promises to transport fans back to its classic arcade roots, specifically focusing on the vibrant era of the 1990s. This adaptation marks a significant departure from the 1994 film, which, despite starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile, took an unconventional G.I. Joe-inspired approach. The upcoming movie aims for a faithful return to the beloved video game`s original source material.

Legendary Entertainment has recently disclosed the initial specifics for the Street Fighter reboot, confirming its setting in 1993. The narrative will spotlight the dynamic between Ryu (portrayed by Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (played by Noah Centineo), two fighters who have grown apart. Their paths converge once more when Chun-Li (with Callina Liang in the role) brings them together to participate in the prestigious World Warrior Tournament. The synopsis also teasingly hints at a “deadly conspiracy” lurking behind this ultimate battle royale, strongly suggesting the involvement of the franchise`s iconic antagonist, M. Bison.

Fans should mark October 16, 2026, on their calendars, as this is the scheduled theatrical release date for the film. This production is the inaugural title in a new three-year distribution agreement with Paramount Pictures. Importantly, this deal does not affect Legendary`s other major projects, such as the Minecraft and Godzilla x Kong sequels, which will continue their distribution under previously established agreements with Warner Bros.
