Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless Pro Controller: Donkey Kong Reveal

The recently released game, Donkey Kong Bananza, has received rave reviews from critics. For those looking for the perfect accessory to complement this potential `Game of the Year` contender, the Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless Pro Controller in the Donkey Kong Reveal design is now available for preorder.

Last year, Turtle Beach acquired PDP, making this controller essentially identical to PDP Rematch models but under new branding. The Donkey Kong-themed version is set to launch on October 12th. Given DK`s current popularity, it`s advisable to secure your order now; you won`t be charged until the product ships.

This controller is compatible with both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, though it lacks the C button for GameChat. Otherwise, it is fully functional with the new console. Officially licensed by Nintendo, it provides up to 40 hours of gameplay on a single charge, supports motion controls, features two remappable back buttons, and boasts an ergonomic design for comfortable extended play sessions.

Overall, the Rematch is a quality controller offering a good set of features and robust construction. While there might be controllers with better value for money, its primary appeal lies in its striking artwork.

Featuring shades of green and black with red accents, the controller depicts DK and Diddy Kong racing through the jungle. The rear buttons are red, while the triggers are green, ensuring it stands out in any gaming setup. Its lenticular design allows the image to subtly transform and reveal new details as the controller moves. This is a relatively rare feature that adds a unique appeal compared to standard gamepads.

It`s worth noting that Rematch controllers are already available in several Super Mario-themed designs. Two glow-in-the-dark models, branded by Turtle Beach, were released earlier this year: Invincible Mario and Super Mario Star. Various editions of the older PDP Rematch, featuring similar core functionalities, are also still available.

Turtle Beach and PDP Rematch Controllers for Switch 1/2

  • Invincible Mario — $60
  • Super Mario Super Star — $59.59
  • Grand Prix Mario — $60
  • Bowser — $60
  • Boo — $53 ($60)
  • Super Mario Icon — $39.90 ($45)

Additionally, the Switch 2 Pro Controller is now available, priced at $84 (one dollar below MSRP). This is Nintendo`s premium, first-party controller, which includes the C button missing from the aforementioned Rematch Wireless Pro.

Alternatively, consider the upcoming 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad, the successor to the popular retro-inspired Pro 2. While similar to its predecessor in appearance, it features TMR sticks, trigger locks, and four remappable buttons instead of two, promising a significant leap forward akin to the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth released earlier this year. The Ultimate 2 Bluetooth shares the form factor of the Switch 2 Pro Controller, whereas the Pro 3 adopts PlayStation-style aligned sticks.
