Treyarch recently released a video offering insights into Call of Duty: Black Ops 7`s multiplayer, ahead of its anticipated November launch. The discussion covered upcoming movement alterations and hinted at the return of additional remastered maps from 2012`s Black Ops 2.
While many beloved Call of Duty maps have received the remaster treatment previously, Black Ops 7 will launch with three returning favorites: Raid, Hijacked, and Express. However, as these have appeared in prior Black Ops titles, fans are eagerly looking forward to the introduction of different classic maps.
Addressing inquiries about never-before-seen Black Ops 2 map remasters, Treyarch`s design director, Matt Scronce, gave a straightforward affirmative: “Yes, you can.” This response has fueled speculation among the community.
Long-standing community requests for maps such as Yemen and Plaza suggest these iconic locations might finally make their remastered debut in Black Ops 7.
Redefining Movement in Black Ops 7
Scronce further detailed the multiplayer movement system for Black Ops 7. He reiterated that traditional jet packs and wall-running mechanics will not be present. Instead, the game introduces a refined “omnimovement” system, featuring a wall-jump ability that can be executed in a sequence of up to three consecutive jumps.
“On that second and third jump, you’re going to lose a little bit of momentum,” Scronce clarified, explaining the design choice. “We honestly want to make sure people aren’t ping ponging around the maps.” This ensures movement remains strategic rather than chaotic.
Carry Forward Program Sees Major Changes
In a recent update, Activision announced a significant change to the Carry Forward program for Black Ops 7. While initially planned, the transfer of weapons, operator skins, and most other cosmetic items from Black Ops 6 to Black Ops 7 has been largely canceled. Players should note that only double XP tokens and GobbleGums will remain eligible for transfer.
Players will have the opportunity to experience the game`s multiplayer during an upcoming beta phase next month.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to release on November 14 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Other confirmed features include an endgame for the campaign, a substantial round-based Zombies map, and a futuristic aesthetic for multiplayer.
