Capcom officially revealed Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection during Nintendo`s first Partner Direct following the launch of the Switch 2. This latest installment in the popular spin-off series, which originated on the Nintendo 3DS, once again places players in the shoes of a Rider. Specifically, you will embody the sole Rathalos Rider within the world of Azuria. While the presentation featured captivating in-game footage, no actual gameplay demonstrations were shown. The highly anticipated title is scheduled for release in 2026.
According to information from a press release, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will unravel a compelling narrative centered on “the story of two nations teetering on the brink of ruin”: Azuria and Vermeil. A recently discovered egg, prominently featured in the game`s trailer, initially offers a beacon of hope amidst the brewing conflict. However, the hatching of twin Rathalos from this egg, bearing a distinct mark identical to that of the fabled twin Skyscale Rathalos, serves as an ominous “portent of destruction,” eerily reminiscent of a civil war that devastated these lands two centuries prior.
Players will assume the role of the heir to Azuria, dedicated to safeguarding both the magnificent monsters and the people throughout the realm. A life-altering event will compel this protagonist to embark on a perilous journey towards “the forbidden land beyond the northern Meridian.” During this crucial quest, they will be joined by Eleanor, the princess of the rival nation Vermeil, whose motivations stem from her deep concern over the true intentions of her sister, the Queen of Vermeil.
Following the Direct presentation, Capcom further confirmed that Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will not be an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game is also slated for release on multiple other platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, broadening its accessibility to a wider audience.
