Mojang has partnered with Conservation International to release a new educational add-on for Minecraft, aptly named “Friendly Fishing.” This immersive new content, now available, invites players on an expansive fishing adventure, teeming with diverse marine life, from common anchovies and clams to tuna, formidable sharks, and hidden treasures.

Beyond the excitement of discovery and catching a variety of aquatic creatures, the core objective of “Friendly Fishing” is to educate players about the crucial issue of ocean pollution. As players cast their lines, they will encounter not only vibrant underwater life but also plastic waste. This collected waste can be ingeniously repurposed within the game to craft unique items. Actively cleaning the ocean environment is a key aspect of progression, unlocking over 90 different types of fish and providing valuable insights into real-world ocean cleanup initiatives.
The add-on further enriches the aquatic experience by including an in-game aquarium where players can proudly display their collected fish. Additionally, players can equip specialized dive gear to explore mysterious underwater ruins, adding another layer of adventure and discovery to their gameplay.
Supporting Ocean Conservation
In a significant commitment to environmental causes, Microsoft has pledged an initial donation of $100,000 to Conservation International. Moreover, all net proceeds generated from the sales of the “Friendly Fishing” add-on will also be directed to Conservation International, underscoring a strong dedication to marine conservation efforts.
Availability and Cost
“Friendly Fishing” is available for purchase at 990 Minecoins in the Minecraft Marketplace. For reference, 1020 Minecoins currently cost approximately $5.99 USD.
