Exciting news for fans eagerly anticipating Metroid Prime 4: Beyond! The highly anticipated game has recently received an age classification, hinting that its official launch date might be just around the corner.
According to observations by VGC, Metroid Prime 4 appeared on South Korea`s game rating board, receiving a “12 years and older” classification, primarily due to depictions of mild violence. While the listing offered no further gameplay specifics, its appearance strongly implies that development is nearing completion, potentially paving the way for a release later this year, possibly even during the holiday season.
VGC further notes that this rating surfaced amidst rumors of an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation, where many expect the long-awaited official release date to be revealed.
The journey for Metroid Prime 4 has certainly been extensive. First unveiled at E3 in 2017, the project experienced a change in developers and at least one significant restart before its re-introduction with the “Beyond” subtitle in 2024. Subsequently, new details have gradually emerged, including initial hands-on impressions earlier this year, alongside a peculiar London Underground advertisement that prematurely and incorrectly stated the game was available.
Current projections suggest Metroid Prime 4 will finally launch by the close of 2025, compatible with both the original Nintendo Switch, its initial announced platform, and the upcoming Switch 2.
