Nintendo has consistently indicated that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch in 2025. Although an exact release date for Samus Aran`s next mission remains undisclosed, the highly anticipated game has recently received an additional age rating.
It was first reported by Necro Felipe (as cited by Video Games Chronicle) that Metroid Prime 4 has been classified with a +14 age rating in Brazil. This follows earlier ratings this summer, including a +12 in South Korea and a `T for Teen` from the ESRB in the United States.
As late as August, Nintendo reaffirmed its 2025 release target for Metroid Prime 4. Fans are hopeful for more details this week, potentially during the Nintendo Direct event slated for September 12, though specifics remain speculative.
Development for Metroid Prime 4 began in 2017, but the original project was eventually restarted. In 2019, Nintendo confirmed that Retro Studios, the acclaimed team behind the initial Metroid Prime trilogy, had taken over development.
Nintendo first showcased Metroid Prime 4 in 2024, with a more extensive preview in March revealing Samus` updated suit and new abilities. The game is set to launch on both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, with the latter expected to leverage the Joy-Con 2`s new mouse-like controls.
