The highly anticipated game Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, first announced in 2017, is finally nearing release. Nintendo has confirmed that the game will launch this year for both Switch 2 and Switch consoles, easing fan concerns about a potential delay.
Prior to its demonstration at Fan Expo Canada later this month, Nintendo announced that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would be playable and available “later in 2025” alongside other Switch 2 titles. This isn`t the first time the public has had a hands-on experience with the game, and Nintendo`s statement confirms that the launch will still occur within the next five months.
The exact release date within this window remains uncertain. Nintendo has been strategically spacing out its first-party releases for the Switch 2: Mario Kart World launched in June, Donkey Kong Bananza in July, Drag x Drive in August, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set for October 15. If this pattern continues, it`s highly probable that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond could arrive during the lucrative holiday season, positioning itself as a must-have title for the Switch 2, especially given the console`s existing installed base of over 6 million users.
This release will mark the end of a long development cycle for Nintendo, which involved restarting the project in 2019 after the initial work by Bandai Namco did not meet the company`s expected standards. The game was re-revealed in 2024, and since then, new gameplay footage showcasing its action and mouse controls has been steadily emerging.
