Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich, famously known for their iconic portrayals as Stu Macher and Billy Loomis in the classic horror film “Scream” nearly three decades ago, are set to share the screen once more. This exciting reunion will take place in “Five Nights at Freddy`s 2,” the highly anticipated sequel to the popular 2023 video game adaptation. While Ulrich`s specific character in the new film remains undisclosed, Lillard couldn`t resist dropping an intriguing hint during their joint appearance at Silver Scream Con.
“I`m incredibly excited to have him join the fold,” Lillard commented, referring to Ulrich. “I recently saw his performance, and I believe audiences are going to adore it. He plays a fantastic character, and if the film performs well, I sincerely hope he`ll return for future installments.”
Ulrich reciprocated the warm sentiments, stating, “I always cherish my time with Matt. He`s genuinely one of the best people I know, quite honestly. As many of you have witnessed, he`s remarkably generous. It`s always a pleasure to work with him, and `Five Nights at Freddy’s 2` was no exception to that.”
Lillard on William Afton and Springtrap`s Future
Lillard is slated to reprise his pivotal role as William Afton, the sinister mastermind responsible for the creation of the murderous animatronic creatures, which are inhabited by the spirits of deceased children. During the convention, he also alluded to Afton`s eventual transformation into Springtrap and provided insight into his decision to decline voicing the character in the “Dead by Daylight” crossover event with “Five Nights At Freddy`s.”
“When they approached me for the Springtrap lines in the `Dead by Daylight` video game,” Lillard explained, “I told them, `I won`t do Springtrap until I portray Springtrap in the movie.` So, the only way I`ll lend my voice to Springtrap is if everyone makes an effort to see the movie on December 5th! And then, hopefully, we`ll get to make a third installment.”
Returning Cast and New Additions
“Five Nights at Freddy`s 2” will feature the return of several key cast members, including Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, Piper Rubio as Abby Schmidt, and Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa Afton. Exciting new additions to the ensemble cast include Mckenna Grace and Teo Briones, who will portray a duo of paranormal investigators. Additionally, veteran actor Wayne Knight is slated to appear in a role that has not yet been revealed.
As Lillard previously confirmed, “Five Nights at Freddy`s 2” is scheduled for its theatrical debut on December 5th. Prior to the film`s release, fans across both the East and West coasts of the United States will have the unique opportunity to experience “Five Nights At Freddy`s” themed haunted houses during Universal Studios and Universal Orlando`s highly popular Halloween Horror Nights events.
