Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the official full trailer for its upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe movie, showcasing an expanded look at the characters and world of Eternia.
While the initial Masters of the Universe trailer confirmed the retention of the beloved 1980s aesthetic within the modernized He-Man narrative, this latest preview delves deeper. It offers viewers a comprehensive glimpse into the core characters, the fantastical realm of Eternia, and the enduring conflict between good and evil.
Directed by Travis Knight, this reboot marks the return of the iconic Masters of the Universe franchise to live-action, following a successful animated revival on Netflix in 2021. The plot centers on Prince Adam, who, after 15 years away from his home world, has been living an ordinary life on Earth. His destiny calls him back to Eternia through the Sword of Power, only to find his home ravaged by the oppressive reign of Skeletor. To liberate his world, Adam must unite with his trusted companions, Teela and Duncan (Man-At-Arms), and ultimately accept his true calling as He-Man, the universe’s most formidable hero.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, and Jared Leto as Skeletor. This project has had a notably long development journey, with early discussions dating back to 2007 when John Woo was rumored to direct. After numerous script revisions over the years, the film has at last reached completion.
Masters of the Universe is slated for release in theaters on June 8th. This highly anticipated film offers fans a chance to revisit a live-action Eternia, a setting not seen since Dolph Lundgren’s portrayal of He-Man in the 1987 movie.
