Sony recently offered more details about Ghost of Yotei during its State of Play event. While the presentation focused primarily on gameplay and story elements, something special was also unveiled for fans: the first look at Limited Edition PlayStation 5 bundles inspired by the game.
Players will have two distinct choices: the Ghost of Yotei Gold Limited Edition Bundle and the Ghost of Yotei Black Limited Edition Bundle. The Black version is planned as an exclusive offering via PlayStation`s official online store, while the Gold version will see wider availability across other retailers. Both bundles are comprehensive, including a PlayStation 5 console equipped with a disc drive, a DualSense controller featuring a matching design, and a digital copy of Ghost of Yotei bundled with all available preorder bonuses.
The development team at Sucker Punch studio was responsible for designing these unique limited editions. They shared that the Gold bundle`s aesthetic draws inspiration from kintsugi, a Japanese art where broken pottery is repaired using gold and lacquer, highlighting the fractures. The Black bundle`s look, conversely, is based on Sumi-e, a Japanese style of ink painting known for its distinct brushwork.
Jason Connell, the Creative Director at Sucker Punch, elaborated on the design philosophy, stating, “Our inspiration for this design came straight from one of the core aspects within the game: a deep focus on exploration. This includes the hand-drawn icons Atsu marks on her map, a kintsugi-style effect pulled from her Ghost mask, and brushstrokes reminiscent of her Sumi-e paintings. The towering Mount Yotei is included at the center of the console design to pull it all together, and Atsu is spotlighted on the DualSense controller. Each of these elements were thoughtfully woven into both the console and controller designs.”
For fans who already own a PS5 model (either the slim or Pro version), there will be an option to purchase the Ghost of Yotei Gold Limited Edition console covers separately through the official PlayStation store. Additionally, the designs featured on the DualSense controllers will also be available for individual purchase.
These limited edition consoles, along with the standalone console covers and controller designs, are scheduled to launch concurrently with the release of Ghost of Yotei on October 2.
