The Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi pixel art display model, featuring 1,215 pieces that recreate the iconic Super Nintendo character designs of Mario and Yoshi, is currently available at a rare discounted price of $119 (down from its usual $130) at both Amazon and Walmart. This marks the first price reduction for this adult-oriented Lego Nintendo set since its release last October. Despite the modest $11 saving, it is anticipated that both retailers may quickly deplete their stock or revert to the original price.
The 1,215-piece Lego Super Mario World: Mario and Yoshi set meticulously replicates the pixelated charm of the Super Nintendo era. It offers an enjoyable building experience and serves as an ideal display item for Super Mario enthusiasts, particularly those who appreciate the classic 16-bit character designs. Once assembled, the model measures 15.5 x 10 x 4 inches and boasts several interactive elements. A dial concealed behind Yoshi’s head allows his tongue to extend. A side crank on the base activates a more complex animation, causing Yoshi’s legs to move, simulating a running motion, complemented by a subtle bouncing effect. Yoshi’s head also sways back and forth, and Mario’s cape gently sways, mirroring its in-game appearance. Furthermore, an integrated Action Tag enables interaction with other Lego Super Mario interactive figures (Mario, Luigi, or Peach) from starter courses.
The assembly instructions are commendably clear, available both as a physical booklet and via the Lego Builder app. The numbered square pieces, crucial for constructing the pixel art, are especially beneficial for individuals with colorblindness. Although marketed under Lego’s 18+ “for adults” range, children accustomed to building sets with 1,000 pieces or more should find it manageable.
The Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi set is one of only eight adult-oriented Lego Nintendo display models. Earlier this year, Lego introduced a 1,972-piece Mario Kart display model for $170, featuring Mario’s iconic red kart and marking the first realistic Lego recreation of the character’s contemporary 3D design.
On October 1st, precisely one year after the debut of Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi, Lego`s much-anticipated Game Boy replica will become available at major retailers and the official Lego Store. This 421-piece display set is priced at $60 and comes with two buildable cartridges, three lenticular screens, several display stands, and various interactive elements.
