Despite the immense popularity of the John Wick film series, video game adaptations allowing players to embody the iconic assassin are surprisingly few. This limited roster is about to shrink further, as John Wick Hex is scheduled for delisting from PC and console storefronts by the end of this week.
The announcement came from Big Fan Games via the game`s Steam page, confirming that John Wick Hex will be removed from sale on July 17. Importantly, those who purchase the game before this date will retain full access to their digital copies. Similarly, owners of physical editions of the tactical action RPG will not be affected and can continue playing.
While no specific reason was provided for the delisting, it is widely speculated that the licensing rights for the John Wick franchise pertaining to the game may have expired. Originally published by Good Shepherd Entertainment, John Wick Hex launched across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. In 2024, Devolver Digital, Good Shepherd`s parent company, transferred the publishing responsibilities for the game to Big Fan Games, one of its subsidiary studios.
Before its removal, John Wick Hex is available at a significantly reduced price of $4 on Humble Bundle, while it currently sells for $20 on Xbox, PSN, and Nintendo Online storefronts.
Looking ahead, Lionsgate revealed in 2022 that it had received several pitches for a potential AAA John Wick game. By 2023, the studio confirmed ongoing discussions regarding another game adaptation, though no definitive projects have been announced. In a recent development, Ana de Armas, reprising her role as Eve Macarro from the John Wick spin-off “Ballerina,” has been introduced as a playable operator in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
