Iconic Voices and Faces Join Cast of Upcoming Horror Title Dead Take, Launching Soon

Surgent Studios, the creative force behind the acclaimed Tales of Kenzera: Zau, recently unveiled their latest project, Dead Take. To the surprise of many, this new psychological horror game is slated for a remarkably swift release.

A recently published trailer confirms that this first-person psychological horror game, featuring talented actors Ben Starr and Neil Newbon, and published by Pocketpair Publishing (known for PalWorld), will be available on PC starting July 31st. The trailer also revealed the broader cast, including BAFTA winner Jane Perry, celebrated for her roles in titles like Returnal and Hitman, as well as Alannah Pearce, known from Cyberpunk 2077 and V/H/S/Beyond.

Further enriching the impressive roster, Dead Take will feature cameo appearances by BAFTA recipient Laura Bailey (from The Last of Us Part 2), Matthew Mercer (of Critical Role fame), Travis Willingham (Marvel Rivals), and CDawgVA (Honkai: Star Rail). Intriguingly, Sam Lake, widely recognized as the facial model for the original Max Payne, also makes an appearance.

Players will assume the role of Chase Lowry, portrayed by Neil Newbon, as he delves into a secluded Hollywood mansion. His objective is to unravel the perplexing disappearance of his close friend, Vinny Monroe, played by Ben Starr. During the investigation, players will uncover audition tapes presented as compelling live-action footage, promising immersive cinematic performances from the game`s cast.

Dead Take is fundamentally about actors, which meant we needed performers who have genuinely experienced the industry`s realities. It’s a game that delves into the exhilarating highs of ambition juxtaposed with the insidious decay beneath it—the deceptions we embrace to attain the spotlight, and the monstrous transformations we undergo to remain there. Every member of this cast has personally navigated such pressures, and this project offered them a unique opportunity to externalize those experiences.
