In the real world, death is inevitable. However, in The Sims 4, the rules are quite different. While most Sims will eventually pass away, there are numerous ways to extend their lives indefinitely. Many of these methods require paid expansion packs, but some options are available in the base game. If you have a favorite Sim you want to keep around forever, it`s possible—though it may require some effort. Let`s delve into the various ways to achieve eternal life for your Sims.
Copypasto and Cloning
Before discussing specific immortality methods, it`s worth mentioning two ways to duplicate essential potions and serums. Constantly creating Age-Away serums to live forever would be a tedious task requiring regular ingredient harvesting.
Two methods can significantly speed up this process. First, the Copypasto spell allows spellcasters to duplicate almost any object. Second, the cloning machine, built by Sims in the Scientist career as part of their job duties, can also duplicate items. Either method can be used to replicate a Potion of Youth, an Age-Away Serum, or even individual ingredients. Note that these methods require the Realm of Magic (for Copypasto) or Get To Work (for the cloning machine) expansion packs; the base game lacks similar duplication features.
Potion of Youth (Base Game)
The most straightforward base game method for a Sim to extend their life is by purchasing the Potion of Youth from the Aspiration rewards store. For 1500 reward points, this potion resets your Sim`s current age. For example, an adult Sim will be returned to day 0 of their adult life stage after drinking it. While buying many of these isn`t ideal due to the cost in reward points, they *can* be duplicated using the cloning machine or the Copypasto spell if you have the necessary expansions.
Essence of Life (Base Game)
The Cowplant in The Sims is essentially the game`s version of a carnivorous plant, and it`s quite dangerous—hungry Cowplants are known to eat unsuspecting Sims. When a Cowplant consumes a Sim, another Sim can milk the plant to obtain a potion called Essence of Life. Drinking this potion adds a few days back to the Sim`s lifespan. Achieving immortality solely through this method would be challenging due to the need for regular feeding and the risk involved, but it is technically possible.
Age-Away Serum (Get to Work Expansion)
Similar to the Potion of Youth and Ambrosia, the Age-Away serum resets your Sim`s current age to zero. To unlock the recipe for this serum, your Sim must reach the highest level in the Scientist career. They will eventually discover the recipe through a breakthrough at work.
The Age-Away serum requires alien ingredients found only on Sixam, a planet accessible via a rocket ship or the Electroflux Wormhole Generator—both of which your Sim will learn to build in the Scientist career. You need Quill Fruit (harvested on Sixam in summer), any two alien crystals, and some Xenopetrium. While the first two are relatively easy to identify, Xenopetrium is trickier.
Where to Find Xenopetrium
This element is extracted from metals and crystals originating from Sixam. Finding it by analyzing items yourself is extremely rare. Instead, send your space rocks to the Geo Council via your Sim`s inventory. They will send back a collection of elements, almost certainly including Xenopetrium.
Potion of Rejuvenation (Realm of Magic)
Just like the Potion of Youth and the Age-Away serum, the Potion of Rejuvenation resets your Sim`s current age timer. The ingredients are valerian root, alabaster, and lemon. As a magical potion, it must be crafted in a cauldron by a spellcaster.
While alabaster and lemon are common and easy to find, valerian root is primarily located near the greenhouse in the Magic Realm. Experimenting with the cauldron to learn new recipes also often yields random ingredients, providing a decent chance of obtaining enough for one or two potions by the time you know the recipe. All magical ingredients can also be purchased from shop vendors in the Magic Realm.
Potion of Immortality (Realm of Magic)
This magical potion works differently. It doesn`t reset your Sim`s age but instead prevents them from dying of old age. If you envision your Sim as an ancient, long-living wizard, this is the path. It requires mandrake, sage, morcubus, and a diamond. Mandrake and sage are common plants found widely, while morcubus and diamonds can be found by digging up rock piles anywhere. Like other potion ingredients, all these can be bought from vendors in the Magic Realm.
Become a Vampire (Vampires)
While a vampire Sim can die from accidents (like fire or sunlight), they do not age naturally, making them immortal. Your Sim simply needs to meet a vampire and convince them to turn them, which isn`t overly difficult. Vampires have a unique advantage for long-lived Sims: they can learn the ability to numb their emotions, preventing them from getting upset for two days after a family member dies, which can be frequent over an eternal lifespan.
Immortal Werewolf Perk (Werewolves Expansion)
Similar to vampires, werewolves can also live forever, but it`s not automatic. There`s a specific perk at the end of the Werewolf skill tree called “Immortal Werewolf” that, once unlocked, stops the werewolf Sim from aging.
Orchid Arrangement (Seasons Expansion)
With the Flower Arranging skill, Sims can create floral arrangements. Excellent quality arrangements can be scented for additional benefits. A Sim with a maxed Flower Arranging skill can scent an arrangement using a very rare orchid, giving it effects similar to the Potion of Youth. When the Sim sniffs it, they become slightly younger and may even have their current age stage reset to zero. Orchids are difficult to find but can be obtained by grafting a lily onto a snapdragon plant (or vice versa) which will occasionally produce orchids.
Players with the Snowy Retreat expansion, however, can find a single orchid plant growing at the peak of Mt. Komorebi. Your Sim needs a rock climbing skill of at least 5 or 6 to reach the peak, but this is the fastest way to guarantee an orchid.
Mother Plant (StrangerVille)
The Mother Plant is the final antagonist in the StrangerVille expansion story, but your Sim can befriend it with enough effort. Sims who are friends with the Mother Plant can ask it for a boon once per day. One of the potential boons the Mother Plant can grant is extending the Sim`s lifespan.
