How to Acquire the Graviton Spike Exotic Hand Cannon in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate

The launch of Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate introduces numerous novelties, including a new Portal system, an expansive new location, and a collection of fresh Exotic weapons. Among these is the highly anticipated Graviton Spike, a unique 150 RPM hand cannon boasting two distinct firing modes: Arc and Stasis.

Its Arc mode delivers an impressively rapid rate of fire, while the Stasis mode, though slower, packs a more potent punch. When the weapon becomes overcharged, each mode leverages this energy to trigger additional effects upon final blows or precision hits. In Arc mode, successful hits call down a powerful lightning strike. Conversely, Stasis mode rounds explode, creating crystals that can be shattered for bonus damage. Players can seamlessly switch between these two modes using the weapon`s intrinsic Temporal Manipulation IV perk.

Unlocking the Graviton Spike

To begin your journey to obtain the Graviton Spike, you must first complete the entire The Edge of Fate campaign. It`s also crucial that your Rosetta ability reaches level 3. Once these prerequisites are met, an Exotic quest titled “Graviton Through the Ages” will become available. This quest appears regardless of whether you finished the campaign on Legendary or Normal difficulty.

Starting the Quest

Initiate the quest by heading to the Altar of Relativity on Kepler. After collecting the quest, proceed to the Caldera social hub, also on Kepler, to speak with Lodi and The Emeritus. They will instruct you to use the Rosetta device—an item also used for deciphering unfamiliar languages to open specific chests—and take it to the Outer Wastes.

Upon arriving in the Outer Wastes, locate the Aionian Command Module on the left. This module requires a fluent Aionian Command input. It will remain locked until you defeat a nearby Rosetta Sentry. Once the Sentry is down, activate the command module.

Follow the directional markers into a search area where you`ll need to activate Matterspark and search for charging portals. These portals are marked, with the first found near a small cliff at the starting point. Activating it will trigger a launch portal next to it, propelling you towards the next. Continue along the route, utilizing Matterspark to charge all three portals. Once all are activated, a small room will become accessible. Inside, interact with a pile of materials to collect the first Graviton Spike weapon piece. Return to The Emeritus for your next objective.

Locating the Second Weapon Piece (The Gorge)

Your next destination is The Gorge, where you`ll seek another Aionian Command Module. For quick travel, use the Assimilated Easement waypoint. As before, defeat the Rosetta Sentry and activate the module. The subsequent puzzle involves both Mattermorph and Matterspark abilities. You`ll find a Mattermorph node along the waypoint path. To solve this puzzle, follow these steps:

  • Use Matterspark to reach and enter the portal situated to the left of the area.
  • On the other side, turn left and proceed into the cave.
  • Enter the narrow pathway and take the first available left.
  • Utilize Mattermorph to unlock the sealed passageway.

Once the barrier is removed, you can search another pile of materials to retrieve the second Graviton Spike weapon piece.

Locating the Third Weapon Piece (Exile`s Accord)

Input a fluid Aionian command to access the Graviton Spike weapon pieces.

Return to Lodi, who will direct you to Exile`s Accord to triangulate the third location. Again, you must defeat a Rosetta Sentry before activating the panel. Upon arrival in Exile`s Accord, resist the urge to go through the train; instead, look right to find a Matterspark portal.

After activating the panel, head back to the train`s original location and proceed through the train tunnel. At the end of the hallway, search the pile of materials to find the third Graviton Spike weapon piece.

Collecting Vex Data Fragments and the Final Weapon Piece

Speak with The Emeritus once more, who will task you with collecting 100 Vex Data Fragments. These fragments drop from all Vex enemies, with higher amounts awarded from those with yellow health bars. Once you have collected the required data, fast travel to the Aionian Campus to activate another command module.

Advance into a new zone that presents another puzzle. In the left corner, you`ll find a Mattermorph node inside a tube. Activate it, then return to the center of the area where a container hangs from a crane. Use your Mattermorph ability on this container to open it and retrieve the Relocator.

Drop down and shoot the Relocator through a narrow gap in a partially open door. Step into the teleporter on the right to pass through the gap. Finally, interact with the pile of materials directly in front of you to acquire the final Graviton Spike weapon piece.

The Sieve Activity and Reward

Your last step involves returning to Lodi, who will instruct you to complete “The Sieve” activity. This is a time-limited event that appears periodically on Kepler. If it`s not currently active, a countdown timer might indicate its next start time, though be aware that temporal anomalies on Kepler can sometimes affect its accuracy. When “The Sieve” becomes available, you can launch it from the Caldera hub. Successfully completing this activity will reward you with the coveted Graviton Spike hand cannon.
