Hollow Knight: Silksong – Unofficial Mobile Play on Android Explored

Hollow Knight: Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel, has already achieved remarkable success since its launch just over a week ago. Attracting five million players within mere days, its performance is impressive, especially considering the absence of an official mobile release. However, Android users have found an unofficial method to enjoy their Steam cloud saves on their phones.

A recent report highlighted how GameSir`s latest GameHub 5.0 software effectively emulates Windows, making Silksong fully playable on Android devices. This innovative solution allows players to seamlessly transfer their Steam progress, enabling them to continue their game wherever they are.

Despite its convenience, GameHub presents certain limitations for Silksong players. Currently, game saves made on GameHub cannot be transferred back to Steam, an issue GameSir is actively working to resolve. Furthermore, running Silksong on Android proved to be resource-intensive, with optimal performance, including achieving 100 frames per second, only possible when the device was connected to an external cooling system.

While GameHub supports other titles, reports indicate some compatibility issues with its 5.0 version for games beyond Silksong. Meanwhile, a dedicated group responsible for a previous Hollow Knight Android port is now developing an unofficial mobile version for Hollow Knight: Silksong, with an expected release within the next month.

On its release day, September 4, Silksong saw significant engagement, with over 7% of active Steam users reportedly playing the game. It quickly climbed to the third spot on Steam`s charts that day, trailing only Helldivers II and Counter-Strike 2. The complete Steam rankings for the first week of September, to be released on September 15, will reveal if Silksong managed to secure the top position.
