Although a definitive release date for the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong remains unannounced, European gamers will soon have a chance to experience the elusive Metroidvania title firsthand. Microsoft`s Xbox division recently unveiled its Gamescom 2024 showcase lineup, scheduled to take place from August 20-24.
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to test out the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handheld devices. While these handhelds will feature games such as Roblox and Sea of Thieves for demonstration, the major draw expected to generate significant queues is undoubtedly the playable demo of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Further specifics regarding the demo`s content or length are scarce. However, given the bustling nature of Gamescom, it is advisable for attendees to anticipate a relatively brief gameplay experience. This appearance marks the first public demonstration of Silksong since 2019. Beyond Gamescom, Silksong is also confirmed to be playable at Australia`s National Museum of Screen Culture in September.
Additional Games Featured at Gamescom 2024
Xbox`s Gamescom presentation will also include playable demos for a variety of other titles, encompassing both first-party and third-party releases. Notable games available for trial include:
- Ninja Gaiden 4 (marking its first public demo)
- Grounded 2 (releasing on July 29)
- Borderlands 4
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword
- Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
- Invincible VS
- Super Meat Boy 3D
While the exact launch date for Hollow Knight: Silksong remains undisclosed, an announcement last month indicated that the game is slated for release by the 2025 holiday season, which means no later than December. Upon its global launch, the highly anticipated sequel will be available across a broad range of platforms, including PC, Nintendo Switch (both the original model and Switch 2), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
