The initial patch for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been announced, and it aims to make the game somewhat more approachable. This new update introduces a modest reduction in difficulty for the early-game boss encounters with Moorwing and Sister Splinter. Additionally, the damage output from Sandcarvers will be decreased.
Beyond difficulty adjustments, this first Silksong patch also incorporates a variety of bug fixes. Players should no longer find themselves stuck floating after performing a down-bounce on specific projectiles. The issue where Silk Snippers in the Chapel of the Reaper could become trapped outside the playable area has also been resolved.
This update is anticipated to be released in the middle of next week. Team Cherry has confirmed that they are already developing further fixes for a subsequent patch. The developers stated, “If you have an issue and you don`t see the solution in the list, we may be working on it.”
Team Cherry clarified that “All fixes will apply retroactively,” meaning that players who have encountered significant bugs hindering their progress may wish to switch to the public beta to receive these corrections immediately.
For those eager to experience these changes or who are relying on one of the progression bug fixes, the new update can be accessed via the public beta branch on both Steam and GOG. For Steam users, the process involves these steps:
- Right-click on Silksong in your library.
- Select `Properties`.
- Navigate to the `Betas` tab.
- Choose the `public beta` option from the `Beta Participation` drop-down menu.
- Proceed to download the new update.
Players can also visit the official Silksong help site for temporary solutions to critical bugs.
Silksong had a massive debut when it launched on September 4, quickly rising high on the Steam charts and reportedly attracting over 5 million players shortly after its release. Interestingly, some PC players are already utilizing Silksong mods to either simplify the gameplay or customize other elements of the experience.
