High Player Engagement: Death Stranding 2 Keeps “Someones” Playing Long After Credits Roll

Newly released data for Death Stranding 2 indicates an impressive inclination among players to continue their virtual journeys. Director Hideo Kojima reported that nearly 80% of users who completed the game (whom he affectionately refers to as “someones”) continue to immerse themselves in the game`s world even after the final credits. While the exact number of these players was not disclosed, other intriguing insights into their in-game behavior were shared.

Kojima revealed these details in a post commemorating the game`s one-month release anniversary. It`s likely no surprise that the assault rifle emerged as the most popular weapon in Death Stranding 2, and the ladder as the most frequently used tool. However, the statistics also unveiled some rather amusing aspects of the game. Among all the animals available for rescue, players most often saved kangaroos (followed by emus and wombats). Among the signs placed, the “speed up” sign was the most prevalent. Although the data doesn`t include total player counts, Death Stranding 2 clearly enjoys immense popularity, having topped the PS5 sales charts in June. The statistics further underscore the importance of the asynchronous multiplayer mode, where players collaboratively construct structures and leave helpful tips for one another.

To everyone who has reached the ending: The world today is in a difficult state. It might be hard to hold on to hope for tomorrow. But know that there is someone out there who would risk their life to protect you—Even if you don’t notice, someone is connected to you, watching over you.

True to Kojima`s style, the update also included some of his philosophical reflections. If you are one of the “someones” who have fully completed Death Stranding 2, you might find a guide explaining the game`s ending insightful.
