Hideo Kojima, the celebrated creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, introduced Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in 2004. This game served as a prequel, immersing players in a Cold War narrative that shed light on Big Boss, the progenitor of the series` protagonist, Solid Snake. Konami is now poised to release Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a modernized remake of the original title. However, despite crafting what stands as one of his most iconic works, Kojima has expressed no desire to play this upcoming new version.
When interviewed by Ssense, Kojima was directly asked about the prospect of playing Metal Gear Solid Delta. His candid response, accompanied by laughter, was a simple, yet firm, “No, I won`t.”
Kojima has consistently remained private about the circumstances surrounding his departure from Konami in 2015, a company where he dedicated the vast majority of his distinguished career to game development. Interestingly, Noriaki Okamura, the producer of Metal Gear Solid Delta, openly conveyed his deep respect for Kojima last year and even voiced a hope for future collaboration on the Metal Gear Solid series. For the time being, however, fans eager for Kojima`s distinctive touch will likely find his forthcoming game, Physint, to be the closest experience reminiscent of the MGS style.
Konami recently unveiled several details about Metal Gear Solid Delta. The remake will reintroduce the original Snake Eater’s memorable secret theater and feature a new online component named Fox Hunt. The publisher also provided an early glimpse of the game`s revamped opening sequence, which includes a refreshed rendition of its iconic theme song. Separately, Okamura conveyed reservations regarding the potential for a future remake of the very first Metal Gear Solid game.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is officially set to launch on August 28, and will be available across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.
