Helldivers 2 has remarkably united players, especially with recent cross-platform integration allowing Xbox Series X|S users to join their PlayStation 5 and PC comrades in the ongoing fight for Super Earth. A frequently requested feature from the community has been an in-game social space, much like Destiny`s iconic Tower. While this addition isn`t imminent for Helldivers 2, it is a planned element for a potential Helldivers 3.
Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani recently addressed this player demand, confirming during a discussion that a social hub is indeed “on the feature list for the next one” – referring to a future Helldivers installment.
However, players should temper their expectations for its immediate arrival. Jorjani also clarified that the team is “focusing on the here and now” and that Helldivers 3 is “hopefully many years away,” indicating a long-term vision rather than an immediate project.
Helldivers 2 continues to maintain strong engagement, having recently surpassed 500,000 concurrent players. This impressive milestone was achieved even before the “Into the Unjust” update introduced significant new content, including incredibly challenging enemies like the Hive Lords on the Hive Worlds. These formidable adversaries often require heavy firepower, such as nukes, for effective elimination, making battles without them notoriously difficult and often comically one-sided.
Jorjani also noted that many Helldivers 2 players provide feedback passively or “silently.” Despite this, the development team consistently releases substantial patches and minor updates to resolve in-game issues, ensuring players can continue their essential mission of eradicating giant interstellar bugs without interruption. The battle is ceaseless, and Helldivers are urged to press on!
