Helldivers 2: Temporary Removal of Frustrating Enemies

Have you ever dropped into Helldivers 2 for a mission, only to be repeatedly overwhelmed by the most frustrating enemies? Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has acknowledged these complaints and, in an effort to reduce player frustration, will temporarily disable the Rupture Strain subfaction today.

In an announcement on the official Helldivers 2 Discord, community manager Katherine Baskin explained that the Rupture Strain – a subfaction of Terminids from “The Gloom” – began exhibiting unexpected behavior after the September 16 patch, alongside “other issues” concerning their balance. For this reason, these insectoid creatures will be taken offline temporarily so developers can resolve all identified flaws.

“No other units will be affected,” Baskin emphasized. “The improved Rupture Strain faction is expected to return to the game in five weeks.”

Introduced on September 2, the Rupture Strain has been a significant source of player headache, with divers of all ranks consistently falling victim to these spider-like adversaries. Since their invasion of Super Earth, the Helldivers 2 community has grown weary of constantly struggling against these bugs. A widely discussed post on the game`s subreddit, titled “Done with the rupture strain…” and published on September 7, detailed numerous reasons why they “aren`t fun to play against.” Another post, appearing a day before this announcement, simply expressed dismay at the notion of the Rupture Strain potentially being buffed. While some players did praise the “unique challenge” they offered, the prevailing sentiment regarding the Rupture Strain was one of sheer exasperation.

Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Although the Rupture Strain will not be present in “The Gloom” for the next five weeks, this doesn`t mean there`s nothing else to do on Super Earth. Arrowhead Game Studios recently rolled out a substantial update addressing various crashes and bugs. Additionally, earlier this month, the team launched the latest premium Warbond, Dust Devils, which brought new weapons, skins, and other valuable rewards.
