Halo’s ODST Assault Rifle Is Causing Helldivers 2 To Crash

Helldivers 2 is currently experiencing a significant boost in player engagement, partly attributed to its highly anticipated collaboration with the iconic Halo series. However, a specific weapon from this crossover – the ODST MA5C Assault Rifle, featured in the ODST Warbond – has been identified as a culprit behind game crashes. This article outlines the known details of this bug and provides a temporary solution.

The critical flaw, specifically linked to the ODST MA5C Assault Rifle, has been officially acknowledged and documented under the “known issues” section on the Helldivers 2 Discord server. Reports indicate that the game crashes when all players on the “bridge” simultaneously equip this particular weapon from the armory, followed by the host leaving the game session. This problem is affecting players across all platforms, and the development team at Arrowhead is actively working on a permanent fix.

Fortunately, a straightforward workaround is available to prevent these crashes for the time being. Arrowhead`s developers recommend that players equip the ODST Assault Rifle through their loadout menu, rather than selecting it directly from the armory.

In addition to the weapon crash, the studio has also brought to light another issue impacting Helldivers 2`s Warbonds (the game`s equivalent of a battle pass). Players who possess a “Warbond Token” may encounter difficulties spending their Super Credits. Until this secondary bug is resolved, users face a choice: either save their Warbond Token for an upcoming Premium Warbond and temporarily postpone any Super Credit purchases, or utilize their token on a current Warbond they do not yet own to enable normal Super Credit spending.

The Halo: ODST Warbond itself marked a significant milestone as Helldivers 2`s inaugural “Legendary Warbond.” It offers an expanded collection of items compared to standard Warbonds, including four distinct weapons, two unique armor sets, and a wealth of other cosmetic and gameplay bonuses. This major Halo crossover was strategically launched alongside Helldivers 2`s debut on Xbox, a combination that has successfully drawn a large influx of both new and returning players to the game.
