Halloween: The Game Reveals 2026 Release Date

The highly anticipated asymmetric stealth-horror game, Halloween: The Game, developed by IllFonic and Gun Interactive, has received its official release date: September 8, 2026. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. This exciting announcement was made during Sony`s State of Play livestream on September 24.

Players will have the unique opportunity to experience the terrifying world of Halloween from two distinct perspectives. They can embody the iconic slasher Michael Myers, wielding his infamous kitchen knife, or play as one of the civilians desperately attempting to evade him. The game, which was first revealed at Gamescom 2025, supports both single-player and multiplayer gameplay. Those who prefer to hone their skills or avoid online competition can even play as Myers against AI bots.

Jared Gerritzen, CCO of IllFonic, stated that the development team aims to elevate the horror experience through both its single-player and multiplayer offerings. He emphasized that Halloween: The Game promises an intense and memorable struggle of fear and survival, regardless of whether players choose to stalk as Myers or strive to protect his potential victims.

When playing as a civilian, the objective is to save neighbors by guiding them to safety, gathering essential weapons and supplies, and contacting the police before it`s too late. Success hinges on strategic planning, effective teamwork, and quick decision-making. Conversely, players controlling Michael Myers will utilize unique abilities, such as `Shape Jump,` to move undetected and launch sudden, terrifying attacks.

IllFonic has a strong track record in the asymmetrical survival-horror genre, having previously developed Friday the 13th: The Game, which launched in 2017 and saw its multiplayer servers cease operation in December 2024. Their portfolio also includes other horror-themed adaptations like Predator: Hunting Grounds and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed.
