Fans of The Witcher can now experience Gwent in its physical form with the official card game adaptation. Announced last December, Gwent: The Legendary Card Game is now shipping, with orders being taken for $45. This comprehensive set includes five distinct factions, over 400 cards featuring new artwork, and offers six game modes suitable for 1-5 players.
Developed by No Loading Games and published by Hachette Boardgames, the game`s product page appeared this month. Although not specifically marked as a preorder, an estimated delivery window of three to four weeks suggests that inventory is still being sorted. The game is sold by the publisher and ships free.
Unlike many other collectible card games, including its digital counterpart, this physical edition is a complete, standalone release. No Loading Games has confirmed there are no plans for future expansions or booster packs, establishing it as a definitive “complete set.”
Factions and Cards
The physical edition of Gwent features five iconic factions: Northern Realms, Scoia`tael, Monsters, Skellige, and Nilfgaard. Players can construct their faction decks from a collection of 436 cards, each showcasing fresh artwork inspired by CD Projekt Red`s acclaimed Witcher series.
Diverse Game Modes
Beyond the extensive card pool for deck building, the physical edition offers six diverse ways to play Gwent. New players can begin with Initiation Mode using pre-built decks to learn the fundamentals. For group play, there are 2v2 matches for four players and a Free-for-All mode supporting three to five players. Solo Challenge Mode provides a single-player option for testing decks or playing without opponents.
For more experienced players, Advanced Mode and Tournament Format both adhere to Gwent`s traditional 1v1 setup. Advanced Mode challenges players to build their decks from scratch, while Tournament Format employs the conventional competition rules. A typical round of Gwent usually lasts about 20 minutes.

Gwent`s History: From Digital to Tabletop
Gwent originated as a popular minigame within The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt a decade ago, eventually leading to a standalone digital release by CD Projekt Red in 2018. Although official digital support concluded in October 2023, the digital version remains playable today on consoles, PC, and mobile devices, with the community actively contributing fan-made content and mods.
While limited physical card decks were previously offered with The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine expansion, this new retail edition marks the first time a comprehensive, full set of Gwent cards has been made widely available.
