ArenaNet`s popular free-to-play MMORPG, Guild Wars 2, which originally launched in 2012, is gearing up for its sixth major expansion. This new chapter, officially titled “Visions of Eternity,” is set to release on October 28. It will transport players to a mysterious, mythical island where they`ll discover the opportunity to establish a unique beachside homestead, alongside a host of other exciting additions.
In “Visions of Eternity,” players will embark on an adventure to the legendary island of Castora. Here, they must confront and stop a cabal of malevolent forces who seek to exploit the island for their own nefarious purposes.
On launch day, “Visions of Eternity” will introduce a significant array of new features to the 13-year-old MMORPG. These include two brand-new maps ripe for exploration, an assortment of legendary weapons, substantial updates to the Skimmer mount, enhanced functionalities for the Homestead housing system, and additional elite specializations for every profession, greatly expanding character build possibilities.
The prospect of owning a fantastical beach house stands as a compelling reason to venture to Castora. Players will have the unique chance to transform an island shipwreck into their very own personal island sanctuary. Furthermore, new Homestead features will facilitate quick and easy sharing of housing designs, enabling other players to instantly replicate them, provided they have acquired the necessary decorative items.
This expansion marks the second introduction of a Homestead location in Guild Wars 2, building upon the feature first presented in the game`s previous expansion, “Janthir Wilds.” While players can only have one active homestead at any given time, a convenient new layout feature will allow for immediate restoration of specific home customizations when swapping between different properties.
Following the precedent set by “Janthir Wilds,” “Visions of Eternity” is scheduled to receive three significant free content updates throughout 2026. These updates promise to further enrich the expansion with more story content, additional maps, new legendary weapons, and expanded endgame activities.

“Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity” is currently available for pre-order, offering a range of editions to suit different preferences:
- Standard Edition ($25): Includes exclusive pre-order bonuses such as a Sea Captain Hat headpiece, the “Eternal Alchemist” title, a shared inventory slot, and an instant level-80 character boost.
- Deluxe Edition ($50): Expands upon the Standard Edition by adding the Castoran Tentacled Skimmer skin, an additional character slot, a set of Fairy`s Call Gathering tools, and an identity repair kit.
- Ultimate Edition ($75): The most comprehensive package, this edition includes all bonuses from the previous editions, along with 4,000 Gems, which is Guild Wars 2`s premium in-game currency used for purchases in the game`s store.
For those who might prefer a different classic MMORPG experience, the original Guild Wars recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a new complete edition was released, bundling all three of the subscription-free MMO`s campaigns along with its “Eye of the North” expansion.
