The Harvest Festival event is bringing autumn festivities to Pokémon Go from October 10-16. During this period, players will encounter fall-themed Pokémon such as Miltank, Smoliv, and Combee more often. The highlight of the event, however, is the debut of two brand-new Pokémon: Dipplin and its evolution, Hydrapple.
Dipplin represents an alternative evolution for Applin, a Pokémon that first appeared in the Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Similar to Applin`s other evolved forms, acquiring Dipplin requires a specific new item: Syrupy Apples. These apples can be challenging to obtain. This guide offers advice on how to get both Dipplin and Hydrapple in Pokémon Go.
How to Obtain Dipplin
The most straightforward method to acquire Dipplin is through evolving an Applin. This process demands a significant number of resources: 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples are essential for initiating the evolution.
Syrupy Apples, a novel item introduced with the Harvest Festival, can be discovered at PokéStops. After gathering the necessary items, you can evolve Applin into Dipplin directly from Applin`s Pokémon details screen.
Acquiring Syrupy Apples
Much like Sweet Apples and Tart Apples—items needed for Applin`s evolution into Appletun or Flapple, respectively—Syrupy Apples are primarily found at PokéStops. Activating a Mossy Lure Module at a PokéStop will cause Syrupy Apples to appear intermittently on your map.
Upon spotting an apple, simply tap it to collect. Be aware, however, that not all apples are collectible; some might initiate an encounter with a wild Pokémon instead. Therefore, patience and persistence are key to successful collection.
Evolving Dipplin into Hydrapple
To obtain Hydrapple, additional Syrupy Apples are not required, but a substantial amount of Applin Candy is. Evolving Dipplin into Hydrapple costs 400 Applin Candy. Furthermore, an extra step complicates the evolution: you must catch seven Dragon-type Pokémon while Dipplin is assigned as your Buddy Pokémon.
Accumulating 400 candies can be time-consuming, but several strategies can accelerate the process. Given Applin`s increased spawn rate during the Harvest Festival, always use a Pinap Berry before catching one to maximize candy gain. Additionally, converting any accumulated Rare Candies into Applin Candy will significantly speed up reaching the 400-candy threshold.
Are Shiny Dipplin and Hydrapple Available?
As shiny Applin has not yet been introduced to Pokémon Go, neither shiny Dipplin nor shiny Hydrapple are currently obtainable in the game. The exact timing of shiny Applin`s debut remains unknown, but new shiny Pokémon usually appear during special in-game events, suggesting a future event will likely feature its release.
The Harvest Festival concludes on October 16, but October brings a variety of other planned events, such as a Pokémon Legends: Z-A crossover and the yearly Halloween festivities. For comprehensive details on upcoming activities, refer to the Pokémon Go October events guide.
