Pokémon enthusiasts are soon to have a unique opportunity to add another rare shiny legendary creature to their collection in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Starting September 26, participating retailers across the United States and other regions will begin distributing complimentary download codes, allowing players to obtain either a shiny Koraidon or a shiny Miraidon.
For players residing in the U.S., these exclusive download codes will be available at select GameStop stores. Meanwhile, those in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand can acquire their codes from EB Games outlets.
It`s important to note that the download code will grant one of the two legendary Pokémon, specifically tailored to the version of the game you own. Players of Pokémon Scarlet will receive a shiny Miraidon, while Pokémon Violet owners will instead be gifted a shiny Koraidon.
How to Redeem Your Shiny Pokémon Code
Once you have secured your unique code, simply launch your copy of Scarlet or Violet on your Nintendo Switch and follow these straightforward steps to claim your new legendary Pokémon:
- Open the game menu by pressing X.
- Navigate to the Poké Portal option.
- Select Mystery Gift, then choose Get with Code/Password.
- Enter your provided download code when prompted.
- Select your gift from the list and remember to save your game afterward.
This special distribution event will conclude on October 15. Make sure to visit a participating store before this date if you wish to secure one of these coveted shiny legendary Pokémon.
Beyond this event, other shiny Pokémon are currently obtainable in Scarlet and Violet. Until September 30, players can claim the shiny Treasures of Ruin via Mystery Gift. Additionally, several free sets of Tera Shards are available through the same method until that date.
Looking ahead, the next major installment in the series, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, is scheduled to launch on October 16 for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. This game will feature a paid DLC expansion, introducing new story content and offering two distinct Mega Evolutions for Raichu. Furthermore, Nintendo recently unveiled Pokémon Pokopia, a new simulation spin-off set to debut in 2026, where players can design and build their ultimate Pokémon paradise.
