MiHoYo, the developer of the popular game Genshin Impact, has announced that it will progressively discontinue support for the PlayStation 4 version, with a complete shutdown scheduled for 2026. The primary reason cited for this decision is the limitations posed by the console`s hardware performance. Furthermore, the studio indicated that future updates will also demand more robust specifications for Genshin Impact on iOS and Android mobile devices.
“Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size,” the studio elaborated in a blog post, “we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4 in future versions.” While the PS4 version will be removed from the PlayStation Network on September 10, existing owners who have already downloaded the game will retain the ability to redownload it.
Starting February 25, 2026, in-game purchases for the PS4 edition will no longer be available on the PlayStation Store. All update support for Genshin Impact on PS4 will cease on April 8, 2026, after which players will be unable to log into the game on the platform.
