The recent launch of Borderlands 4 brought players to the treasure-rich planet Kairos. Gearbox Studios has shared initial gameplay statistics, highlighting players` dedication to seeking out valuable loot.

Intriguingly, the statistics show that 1,530,794 items were discovered inside outhouses, a surprisingly lucrative source. This contrasts sharply with trashcans, which yielded only 487,585 items, suggesting more rewards from the former. Other common objects like boomboxes, beer coolers, and grills collectively contributed 1,811,970 looted items. Unsurprisingly, red chests remained the most popular loot source, accounting for a massive 14,814,296 items over the debut weekend.
This relentless pursuit of treasure came with significant hazards. A total of 2,034,399 players met their demise via exploding barrels, while grenades proved even deadlier, causing 4,563,416 fatalities. Although less frequent, deaths from toxic goo, numbering 349,734, were perhaps the most unpleasant.
The opening weekend also saw 16,220,852 in-game vehicles obliterated, without specific breakdowns per vehicle type. Players engaged in a staggering 62,718,658 boss encounters, with 55,403,323 bosses successfully defeated. Nevertheless, players faced defeat in 16,220,852 of these formidable battles.
As a bonus, Gearbox provided a redeemable code for the Break Free Pack and two ECHO-4 drone customization skins:
Despite generally positive critical reception for Borderlands 4, PC players have voiced strong concerns on Steam regarding performance and optimization. Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox Studios, has publicly challenged these claims, offering troubleshooting advice and confirming that a patch for the PS5 Pro is under development to address specific console issues.
Borderlands 4 is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with a Switch 2 version slated for release on October 3rd.
