Despite a robust initial player base, Borderlands 4 has faced considerable criticism, particularly concerning performance on PC. Concurrently, a recurring demand from console players has been the inclusion of a Field of View (FOV) slider. Recent official communications indicate that this much-requested feature for consoles is now actively being explored.
Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, recently conducted a poll on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account to gauge console players` interest in an FOV setting. He noted some `dreams` where an FOV setting `might affect fairness,` though he refrained from elaborating. This concern appeared secondary to many players, as the top response in the poll was an emphatic “FOV slider or GTFO!” Following this, an official Borderlands X account post essentially confirmed that the development team is looking into adding this option.
“Vault Hunters! We have heard your feedback on FOV (Field of View) sliders on console. The team is currently exploring how to bring these sliders to both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions. We will continue to read your feedback & prioritize game updates with your experience in mind. Thanks all!”
While this statement stops short of an outright confirmation, the strong and consistent player demand, clearly visible across platforms like the Borderlands subreddit, suggests that the addition of FOV options for console players is a highly probable and difficult-to-ignore request for the developers.
