The second annual Summer Road Trip event is set to launch on Tuesday, July 22, offering players in both Fortnite and Rocket League a chance to acquire exclusive free items. Participants can earn a complimentary skin, a sleek Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 car body, and a Red Hot Chili Peppers jam track. While the Corvette and its accompanying wheels are obtainable by playing either game, securing all available rewards necessitates engagement with both titles. The event concludes on August 4 for Rocket League and August 7 for Fortnite.

For Fortnite players, a new daily quest will be issued, focused on earning XP while grouped in specific game modes. These quests will rotate between official Epic-developed modes (such as Battle Royale and Reload) and various user-created experiences. Successfully completing each quest unlocks a new reward. The first reward is `The Zephyr Song` by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, obtainable after one quest completion, while the coveted Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 car body is granted upon finishing eight quests. Intermediate rewards include cosmetic items like sprays and emoticons, alongside a notable high-quality vehicle wrap and a distinctive rubber ducky pickaxe.
Conversely, the Rocket League segment of the event is structured in two parts. The majority of quests and rewards will be accessible from day one, with the ultimate quest for the Corvette unlocking on July 28. Importantly, this initial set of Rocket League challenges also offers rewards specifically for Fortnite. For instance, achieving 15 saves during the event will unlock the `Hairpin` skin in Fortnite, and completing a private match with mutators active will grant a Fortnite glider resembling a Rocket League ball. These particular items are exclusively earnable through Rocket League gameplay, not directly within Fortnite.
Compared to last year`s event, which featured the controversial Tesla Cybertruck as its main prize and a free `Holiday` jam track by Green Day, this year`s Summer Road Trip boasts more rewards and significantly less contention. A notable new aspect is the inclusion of rewards earned in Rocket League that are exclusively usable in Fortnite, such as the unique glider and the `Hairpin` skin.
With one exception, it`s anticipated that most of this year`s Summer Road Trip rewards may eventually become available for purchase in the item shop after the event concludes. The jam track and the car body, in particular, are strong candidates for this, mirroring how the Cybertruck appeared in the item shop soon after last August`s event. The only truly exclusive item confirmed is the ZR1 Circuit decal for the Corvette.
Beyond the Summer Road Trip, this week also brings other significant cosmetic updates to Fortnite, with the Fantastic Four set to arrive in the item shop this Friday, featuring both character skins and themed footwear.
