Fortnite Offers Free New Version of Beloved Battle Pass Skin

Fortnite is commemorating the launch of its new Marvel-inspired Blitz Royale island by providing a complimentary new skin that all players can acquire this weekend. In-game notifications indicate that players who secure a victory in the Six Stack (Pure Chaos) variant of the recently introduced Blitz Royale mode this weekend will receive the new Bug Punk Sunny skin on Monday. This marks the debut of a fresh iteration of Sunny, the beloved alien fangirl character from the Chapter 2 Season 7 battle pass.

For players unfamiliar with the diverse array of Fortnite`s battle royale modes, Blitz Royale is a compact variant accommodating up to 32 players, with matches concluding in five minutes or less. It was introduced this summer to attract mobile users following Fortnite`s re-release on iOS in the USA. However, Blitz Royale is not limited to mobile platforms; it`s accessible on any device where Fortnite is available. The Six Stack (Pure Chaos) sub-mode features teams of six, lacks bots, and eschews skill-based matchmaking, often resulting in incredibly chaotic and fast-paced gameplay.

This is already a significant event for Blitz Royale, as its map was completely overhauled on Friday, now featuring a new island brimming with elements associated with Tony Stark/Iron Man. These iconic locations are actually returning from Chapter 2 Season 4, which was notably the first fully Marvel-themed season in autumn 2020. The transformation extends beyond visuals; the loot pool has also been refreshed with a variety of Marvel items, including the often-criticized War Machine items that proved challenging for many players in Chapter 5 Season 4.

The Bug Punk Sunny skin marks the ninth free cosmetic Epic Games has provided to Fortnite players this year. Additionally, a tenth skin, Skulldroid, was available for 100 V-Bucks to those who had acquired its accessories through free Twitch drops. This total already surpasses the typical number of free skins offered in an entire calendar year, and Winterfest—historically Fortnite`s primary event for free skins—is still three months away.
