Fortnite Kicks Off Rare Double XP Event and Revives Beloved Weapons

In Chapter 6 Season 4 of Fortnite, player experience gain has been a hot topic, with many feeling that Epic Games significantly slowed down progression through normal gameplay. Given this season`s extended duration compared to the last, this adjustment wasn`t entirely unexpected. However, Epic is providing some relief by launching a rare Double XP weekend. This accelerated progression will be available until Monday, September 8, concluding at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET.

Such Double XP events are quite infrequent in Fortnite. Usually, Epic opts to boost player XP earnings by introducing special, limited-time quests with straightforward goals, designed to be completed easily across modes like Battle Royale or Reload. The last similar Double XP weekend took place in March.

Beyond the Double XP, Epic has introduced several other exciting changes for the weekend. Blitz Royale is hosting a `Golden Llamageddon` event, where players will find the map teeming with special gold llama piñatas, each bursting with high-tier loot. Furthermore, Battle Royale sees the return of several classic weapons from the vault, including the versatile grapple glove, the powerful Boom Bow, the iconic original pump shotgun, and the fan-favorite Holo Twister assault rifle, which was a staple in the first two seasons of Chapter 6.

The much-loved Holo Twister assault rifle makes its highly anticipated return to Battle Royale this weekend.

Meanwhile, Fortnite OG is charting a new course, deviating from its original Chapter 1 Season 5 progression. The iconic giant purple cube, Kevin, has been replaced by a new, colossal red cube dubbed Revin.

These exciting weekend events and bonuses, including the Double XP, are scheduled to conclude simultaneously on Monday. Players have a limited window to experience these special additions before the game reverts to its usual state.
