With the forthcoming premiere of It: Welcome to Derry on HBO Max, a new wave of merchandise centered around Pennywise and the unfortunate inhabitants of Derry is appearing in major retail stores. While the Tubbz Pennywise duck plush seemed to set a high bar for unexpected collectibles, Fisher-Price has surpassed it with their new Little People Collector figure set. This Special Edition “It” set features Pennywise alongside Georgie, notably depicted with one arm. Adding to the macabre nature, Georgie`s severed limb even includes a splash of blood. Considering these figures are designed in the style of toys for toddlers, the existence of this set is quite remarkable.
Fisher-Price introduced its Little People Collector series in 2019. These licensed sets emulate the design of figures that have been marketed to children under five since the 1960s. The series boasts a broad array of sets based on popular entertainment intellectual properties, but Stephen King`s “It” arguably stands as the most “mature” addition to the collection to date. Other notable adult-oriented sets include a Chucky Doll wielding a knife and Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad in their hazmat suits. Nevertheless, a figure set that re-enacts the chilling opening scene of the 2017 film It: Chapter One, where Pennywise dismembers Georgie`s arm, is particularly striking.
Each Little People Collector figure measures 2.5 inches tall and, at first glance, indeed resembles a child`s toy. However, Pennywise is far from a harmless clown. Modeled after his iconic Dancing Clown appearance, Pennywise features a sinister grin and the yellow eyes that signify his predatory intent. Georgie is clad in his yellow raincoat and sports a shocked expression, holding the paper boat that famously drifts into the sewer in the opening sequence. Tragically, Georgie had already approached the sewer to retrieve the boat from Pennywise.
The figures are presented in a collector`s box adorned with the film`s logo in prominent red lettering, set against a backdrop depicting the entrance to the sewer.
