The eagerly awaited arrival of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and its follow-up, Rebirth, on the Nintendo Switch 2 was partially confirmed during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation. Specifically, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is set to launch on January 22, 2026, for the Switch 2. Following this announcement, it was further disclosed that this title, encompassing the original Remake and its DLC, along with the entire FF7 Remake trilogy, will also debut simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will be offered in both physical and digital formats. While the digital distribution is straightforward, specifics regarding the physical edition remain somewhat unclear, particularly whether it will be a full game cartridge or a redemption code. Intergrade notably bundles the base Remake with its Episode Intermission DLC. For Xbox players, it will include Play Anywhere support, enabling them to access the game across both console and PC with a single purchase.
The digital version of Remake Intergrade is currently listed on the eShop for $40 as a `limited early purchase edition.` This special offer notably includes a complimentary port of the classic original Final Fantasy 7 game. Moreover, early adopters of the physical edition will receive a bonus Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy booster pack, adding a collectible incentive for fans.
Historically, the initial installments of the Final Fantasy 7 remakes were exclusive to PlayStation consoles. However, Square Enix is now strategically broadening its release strategy. The publisher is actively pursuing multiplatform launches across the franchise, a calculated move intended to foster long-term growth and make these celebrated titles accessible to a much wider global audience.
The concluding chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is presently in advanced development. According to producer Tetsuya Nomura, Square Enix possesses a precise timeline for the official unveiling of this highly anticipated final installment.
Beyond these monumental Final Fantasy sagas, the Switch console is slated to receive several other significant JRPG titles later this year and into 2026. These upcoming releases include Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, scheduled for September 30; the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, arriving on October 30; and Octopath Traveler 0, planned for December 4.
